Bournemouth make Brett Pitman enquiry

AFC Bournemouth have approached Bristol City regarding striker Brett Pitman.
The Cherries, who sold the 25-year-old forward to the Robins in a deal worth £800,000 in the summer of 2010, are looking to bolster their strike-force ahead of tonight's transfer deadline.
The Post can exclusively reveal preliminary discussions took place between Bournemouth and City at boardroom level yesterday, but the League One outfit have yet to follow up their initial interest and Pitman, who was left out for last Saturday's npower Championship game against Cardiff, was in the squad that left Ashton Gate to travel to Barnsley today.
The squad departed without any new additions, but City boss Derek McInnes has not given up on recruiting a commanding right-sided centre-back before the transfer window closes at 11pm.
Although his quest to lure Swansea skipper Garry Monk appears to have failed, the Scot was still working his way through a list of alternative targets in the hope of making his eighth summer signing.
Andre Amougou was today in talks with Middlesbrough regarding a short-term contract. A free agent after leaving Burnley in May, the former Reading defender spent a successful loan spell at Ashton Gate towards the end of last season and returned to Bristol to train with City's first team squad earlier this month.
But there was never any likelihood of him being offered a deal by the Robins and he now looks set to join Boro, who have lost key defender Rhys Williams to long-term injury.
Meanwhile, a City spokesman today dismissed a Sky Sports story linking the club with a possible move for Blackburn Rovers forward David Goodwillie as "complete baloney."
Former City striker Nicky Maynard was today close to completing a £2m move from West Ham United to Cardiff. But there will be no financial benefit for the Robins, who failed to negotiate a sell-on clause when allowing Maynard to move to Upton Park in a deal worth £1.65m in January this year.
