Father, son drown after crash along paper route

A father and his 9-year-old son drowned after their vehicle veered off a winding road into a pond as they delivered newspapers early Sunday morning in Fort Bend County, authorities said. Fabio Martinez-Palacios, 39, and his son Daniel Martinez died around 4 a.m. on Camden Fields at Mesquite Stone in the Old Orchard subdivision in Richmond, while delivering the Houston Chronicle. Investigators found the two next to the pond and the van nearby in the water, full of newspapers.
